Democracy and the Internet

In the last decade, it’s safe to say that the internet has given a truly new meaning to the phrase, “power of the people.” Since the internet itself isn’t bound by imaginary lines drawn in the sand, we can postulate that we are in the beginning stages of a new era of world-wide government fueled by ideas at individual level. From blogs to viral videos, – to Youtube and BitTorrent – the voice of an unknown has the chance to come out a star because fundamental rules the internet are rapidly changing. Viral videos can sweep every corner of the globe in a matter of hours, and bloggers are keen and ready to make statements against their government, even they’re not supposed to.
